Seems like a useless question to ask… “What are the most addicting sounds in the world??”
I think by “addicting”, what was meant was “the sounds we instictually respond to the most”…
If you’ve been listening to me for awhile, you’ve probably heard me play Color Me Corporate, where I try to prove that you know more about corporate logos, slogans, color schemes, and jingles than you do other common-knowledge stuff…
Well check out this study this guy did……. I’d be curious to see how much your own experience is close to what his “research” says it oughtta be… Check out his lists, and then leave a comment…

I think some of i’s valid. A baby giggling either makes you feel happy or completely terrifies you. I’m more inclined to believe in themes. Like theme songs for my favorite tv shows. Or catch phrases from shows. Like on The Amazing Race when the contestants reach the check-in mat. They stand there waiting for Phil to tell them their fate. I’m waiting with the same anticipation watching it. Same thing for Survivor.

Some of that is very likely…. For a long long time I woulda said the 1st 4 notes of Beethoven’s 5th was the most recognizable string of 4 notes in the world, in all history… Intel’s little audio slogan has probably dislodged it from that spot now…

I completely agree that the sound of a baby giggling should be number one. I was just noticing that the other day when I was somewhere and heard a baby having a giggling fit. It is the sound of pure joy. And I remember thinking that there is no other sound in the whole world that so purely represents a positive emotion. A baby’s giggle is without reservation or pretense. And most people when they hear it will immediately smile.
I have to agree about the Intel sound too. Now the guy needs to do a study of the ten most hated sounds in the world. Would the alarm clock be in the top ten of that list? I wonder…
