Badass. Trust me.
….this has been a weird year for me, in terms of the music I’m listening to a lot… I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the new albums from Doves, Bat for Lashes, Manchester Orchestra and Girl in a Coma, but was… I was expecting to be blown away by new albums from Green Day, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Silversun Pickups, but wasn’t…
…but this one’s probably the biggest surprise… Maybe it’s just that it’s been TOO long since I had something this heavy and chaotic that I LOVED… I liked Future of the Left’s first album OK enough… They have ex-members of a downright explosive band called Mclusky, who put out some great stuff earlier this decade… But I think put out something phenomenal here…….
….even though I consider Radiohead the greatest band in the universe, I am also a fan of stuff that can be punishingly, defiantly obnoxious and discordant… As long as it’s still smart… Off the top of my head I can think of Archers of Loaf (one of my all-time faves), At The Drive-In, and some stuff Faith No More did… Count these guys in…
And speaking of Mike Patton from FNM… I HAD to stream this song from the album… It reminds me A LOT of him… It’s a song about the more mundane aspects of being a devil worshipper… Click below for “You Need Satan More Than He Needs You”…

I like what they have to say, but it makes me feel like a chihuahua. Gives me the shakes.
